Stitching my Opus

Finally - I’m stitching the Opus! Spoonflower sent me a beautiful print, which I trimmed, then basted to a layer of wool - from an old woolen blanket - with a fine white cloth between the wool and the print:

Three layers won’t fit between regular embroidery hoops, so I constructed a wooden frame, with holes drilled so I can sew through it:

I wrapped the frame in cloth so the wood isn’t actually touching the embroidery:

Then I rolled the cloth  up at the edges and stitched it  onto the frame:

I’m starting the sewing at the top, working on the border before I tackle any of the faces:

When I finish sewing this section, I can cut it off the frame, reposition the next section and sew it back on.
