Not mounted, but otherwise finished. This was great fun - adding tiny bits of leather on the book spines, and embroidering teeny tiny critters on such a playful image. The words of the poem are embroidered around the edge. Here's some details:
One of the 'illuminated' letters from a chapter page gave me the 2 shoveling skeletons.
Two grouchy demons sitting on the sides here....
..are now sewn on either side of the reader in the circle on top, while the horned/winged fellow in the middle can now be found on both sides of the title:
The little creatures on top of another illuminated letter...
....found new homes between the embroidered letters.
And then there are the books. The leather comes from old gloves, wallets, and book covers.
I took the frame from the frontpage of another book...
..and added books so it could grow into a square. I gathered up all sorts of book images and crammed in as many as I possibly could.
